All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has reacted strongly on Thursday (31 July 2025), objecting to US President Donald Trump’s announcement of imposing a 25 percent tariff on India. Angry over the American tariff, Owaisi said that it is very sad that the Indian government is facing a prank sitting in the White House of America.
At the same time, Asaduddin Owaisi shared a post on the social media platform X about this. Owaisi in his post has declared the announcement of this move by Trump as a clear and deliberate attack on India’s sovereignty and economic status. He said, “I have been raising the issue of growing business enmity against India in Parliament for years.”
Owaisi’s reaction came after the US announced the trump to impose an additional tariff of 25 percent tax from Russia for the import of military equipment and oil-gas.
India is not a slave country- Owaisi
Owaisi said, “It is very sad that the government of my country is facing a prank sitting in the White House. This tariff of America will come with a unclear penalty for trade with Russia. India is an independent and sovereign country, there is no slave country in a king’s court.”
He said, “This tariff imposed by the US will cause huge damage to India’s MSMES, construction companies, IT firms, service providers and farmers. This tariff will also prevent FDI, damage exports and also affect jobs. Where he will affect the jobs. Where there is a 15 percent tariff on Japan, 20 percent on Vietnam and 19 percent on Indonesia. India’s competitive lead on exports will end. ”
Trump has announced that Indian expenses will now come with a 25% tariff.
