Iran help india in nimisha priya case: Diplomatic relations between India and Iran have been seen once again. This time Iran has carried forward its move to avoid the death sentence in Indian nurse Nimisha Priya’s Yemen. Indian Foreign Minister S.K. Following the request of Jaishankar, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has raised the case of Nimisha Priya along with the Huti rebels of Yemen.
37 -year -old Nimisha Priya is a resident of Kerala. He was accused of killing his business partner in Yemen in the year 2017. After this incident, Yamani Supreme Court sentenced Nimisha Priya to death in 2020. His family alleges that Nimisha was tortured and exploited by his Yemeni partner, resulting in this unfortunate incident.
Cooperation between India and Iran
The Government of India is constantly making diplomatic efforts in this matter. The Indian Foreign Minister had met the Iran’s Foreign Minister in Oman’s capital Muscat and requested to convince the Huti rebels, as there is a very strong relationship with the Huti rebels of Iran. Iran has given positive response to this request and has taken steps towards resolving the matter.
Talks with Huti rebels
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that he has discussed the matter with Ansar Allah, a special messenger of the Huti rebels. Araghchi said, “We give hope in this matter. Huti messenger has assured that he will try further to resolve the issue.”
The huts have a large part of the Yemen and Nimisha Priya is currently under his jurisdiction. Iran, which is a major country supplying arms to the huts, is now providing diplomatic assistance in this matter so that Nimisha Priya can be released.
Legal and diplomatic efforts
Iran’s Foreign Minister made it clear that the matter is completely legal and an alternative legal plea would be required to resolve it. He also said that it has no relation with politics, but still India’s diplomatic efforts are going on so that Nimisha Priya can be protected from death sentence in Yemen.
Nimisha Priya’s family and blood money
Nimisha Priya’s family is running an international campaign to save her, in which attempts are being made to collect ‘blood money’ (which is given to the victim’s family). Under the Yemeni law, the death sentence can be avoided by giving blood money. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has assured all possible help in this matter, and Iran’s cooperation is proving important in this effort.
