A major terrorist attack took place on Sunday (July 27, 2025) in the Republic of Congo, a country in Central Africa. The rebel group of the Islamic State (ISIS) is attacked by the Aloid Dramocratic Force (ADF) in a Catholic Church in Eastern Congo. At least 21 people have died in this attack. This information has been given by a leader of civil society.
According to the leader of the civil society, the ISIS -backed rebel group Aloid Dramocratic Force (ADF) carried out the attack in the premises of a Catholic Church in Komanda, Eastern Congo around 1 am on Sunday. Many local houses have also suffered damage in this terrorist attack. Many houses and shops were set on fire during the attack.
Associated Press, quoting Komanda’s Civil Society Co-ordinator Daudoni Durntabo, said in its report, “More than 21 people were shot dead inside and outside the church premises in this terror attack. We have recovered at least three burnt bodies and many houses have also been burnt. But investigation is still on.”
DRC Army confirmed the death of 10 people
According to the report of the Indian Express, however, a spokesperson of the Kangoli Army in Komanda, Republic of Congo, has confirmed the death of 10 people in this terrorist attack. DRC Army spokesman Lieutenant Jules Nagongo said, “According to the information we have received on Sunday (July 27, 2025), some armed men entered a Catholic church in Komanda with a machete (sharp knife). At least 10 people were brutally murdered and some local shops were set on fire.”
Diudon Dorathabo expressed surprise about the attack
At the same time, Komanda’s Civil Society Co-ordinator Dudon Dorantabo said, “We are really very disappointed because it is surprising how such an attack can happen in the city where all the big security officers are present. Now the situation is that some civilians have started running away from the area and are going towards Buuni.”
Murnthabo demanded, “We demand military intervention in this matter as soon as possible, as we were told that the enemy is still near our city.”
