Raisina Dialogue: US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, Britain’s National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell and New Zealand intelligence head Andrew Hampton attended a meeting with intelligence heads of various countries on Sunday. Especially, India can get a big benefit from Five Eyes in the exchange of intelligence information against China and Pakistan.

However, according to a report by The print, it also has some possible disadvantages. If India joins this alliance, it may have to compromise with its strategic autonomy to some extent. Apart from this, Five Eyes also works against Russia, due to which there may be a possibility of sourness in India-Russia relations. India always wants to maintain friendly relations with all countries, including countries outside five eyes.

India’s foreign policy is often different from the US and Western countries, which may lead to differences in the outlook of India and Five Eyes on many geo-political issues. Also, India may face some challenges regarding data security and privacy. Nevertheless, experts believe that while keeping these differences away, India should consider working closely with five eyes, which will strengthen its strategy against China and terrorism.
