Syria Civil War Alawite Community is Being Killed in Syria Over 1000 dead

Syria Civil War: The violence in Syria for the last three days has pushed the country towards another civil war. So far, more than 1,000 people have been killed in this conflict, including a large number of citizens, government security personnel and fighters.

There is a conflict between the new Syrian government and supporters of former President Bashar al-Assad at the center of this violence. Due to this fight, the power and water supply of the country has been disrupted, and thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes. According to the UK -based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (Sohr), it is one of the deadliest in Syria’s 14 -year struggle.

What is happening in Syria?
In fact, Bashar al-Assad, who ruled Syria for 50 years, was removed from power in December 2024. After he left, a new equation of power emerged in the country, in which a conflict between many groups started. Pro -Assad forces are still active in some areas and are carrying out raids against the new government. In response, the armed groups of the new government have intensified the attacks.

Attack on Alavi community
After Asad’s departure, the people of the Alavi community supporting him are now facing vengeance. Many Sunni rebel groups believe that the Alavi community had special benefits during the Assad rule. According to SOHR, Syrian security forces in Latakia province, a stronghold of Assad supporters, killed 162 Alavi citizens in field examination.

Who are the Alavi community and why are they being targeted?
The Alavi community accounts for about 12% of the total population of Syria. They are associated with Shia Islam, but their religious rituals are different from Sunni majority. Bashar al-Asad and his family came from this community, and during his reign, the bonfire was given prominent positions in the army and administration.

Why are the attacks happening?
Sunni extremist groups believe that the bonfire should be privileged under the rule of Assad. Now after the change of power, the Alavi community is being targeted due to the spirit of revenge. Religious division in Nasia was already deep, but this violence is increasing it further. Coastal areas like Latakia and Baniyas are the most vulnerable to violence.

The government says that the attacks carried out by Asad’s remaining fighters are being responded to, but human rights organizations allege that the government itself is promoting communal violence. At the same time, France has expressed deep concern over this violence and demanded an independent investigation. The United Nations has said that communal violence in Syria should be stopped immediately. So far, America and Russia have not given any official statement on this.
