Bangladesh Politics: After the coup of Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh, the upheaval continues. Preparations for the coup were once again going on in the neighboring country and due to this, a senior military officer having a close relationship with Pakistan has been kept under supervision. He has been accused of trying to try a coup.
India Today has quoted sources as saying that an attempt was being made to remove Army Chief Vakar-U-Zaman from his post and he got the idea of this, after which he gave this order. The conspiracy is accused of Quarter Master General (QMG) Lieutenant General Faizur Rahman. This step has been taken when the secretariat of the Army Chief was informed that meetings are being called by the pro -Jamaat Lt Gen Faizur Rahman without telling them.
When and why meetings were called?
Sources said that these meetings with divisional commanders were called to gather support against the acting head of the Bangladesh Army. However, he could not get enough support. Lieutenant General Faizur Rahman called a meeting of the major divisional commanders (GOCs) in the first week of March. The secretariat of the Army Chief came to know about this meeting and a warning was issued to the top officials. Subsequently, the top officials separated themselves from this important meeting. In the first two months of 2025, Lieutenant General Faizur Rahman held several meetings with Jamaat leaders and Pakistani diplomats. The army chief of Bangladesh came to know about these meetings, after which he became alert and after that he was kept under surveillance.

Uncontrollable situation in Bangladesh
This development has come to light at a time when incidents of violence, barbarity and riots have been seen continuously in Bangladesh in the last few months and unrest is being seen again in the country. During the protests, assets associated with Sheikh Hasina’s family were vandalized, including her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s house in Dhaka. Last month, Army Chief General War-e-Zaman said that there is a political upheaval behind the rapid deteriorating law and order in the country.
