Indus water treatment: Pakistan is planning to issue a formal diplomatic notice to India against the unilateral step to suspend the Indus Water Treaty. This information came out in a news released on Friday (May 2, 2025) in the media.
According to the news of Express News, this decision was taken after preliminary consultation between Pakistan Foreign Ministry Law and Water Resources Ministries. In the news, sources were quoted as saying that in response to India’s unilateral step, initial and constitutional counseling was completed in an emergency, after which it has been decided to formally give India a formal notice on suspension of the treaty.
Pakistan will issue diplomatic notice to India

India announced the suspension of the major water agreement signed in 1960, among other punitive action, which controls water sharing between the two countries.
Pakistan will ask for clarification from India
The officials confirmed the Ministry of External Affairs, Water Resources and Law Ministries to coordinate the process to finalize the process and in the coming days planned to issue a formal notice to New Delhi in diplomatic methods. Sources in the Indus Commission said that in the notice, a concrete explanation will be sought from India to suspend the historic treaty.
According to sources, discussions are also going on to register formal protests on global forums so that the claims of water aggression against India can be highlighted. Pakistan believes that it has a legal priority on the treaty and hopes that India will be forced to reconsider its decision.
