In fact, Shantian Chentan Chemical Group Company Limited of Shandong province of China issued a notice to more than 1,200 employees. It said that unmarried and divorced employees of the age of 28-58 years should marry by the end of September. Regarding the rule, the company said that the purpose of this step is to promote the spirit of “hard work, kindness, loyalty, patriarchy and righteousness”.

Rules given in notice:
Those who do not get married by the end of March will have to write a letter of self-criticism.
Unmarried people will be evaluated by the end of June.
By the end of September, single people will be fired.

The company had to cancel the order
After the dispute escalated, the local Human Resource and Social Security Bureau canceled the company’s notice and called it a violation of the labor law. The company admitted that it had made a mistake and immediately canceled the rule.

A representative of the company clarified that “we wanted to motivate unmarried employees only to marry and settle the family.” However, due to the company’s unfair and strict attitude, this policy became a rigorous order, which was rejected by the people.
