Us-china tarif war: The aviation sector has also come in the grip of the tariff war that started between the US and China. China has ordered its airlines not to take delivery of jet from American company Boeing. The Chinese government has instructed its airlines to stop the purchase of aircraft equipment and parts from America.
Tariff impact on aviation companies
The US is now imposing up to 145 percent tariffs on imports from China. At the same time, China has imposed a counter -duty duty of 125 percent on American imports. According to Bloomberg’s report, the Chinese government is considering helping the aviation companies that lease Boeing jets and pay more money for it. At present, there is no official response from Boeing and concerned Chinese Airlines.
Production and delivery will affect
According to data from Aviation Flights Group, about 10 Boeing 737 Max aircraft is set to join the Chinese airline fleet, including China Southern Airlines Company, Air China Limited and two each of the Jiamen Airlines company. According to the production tracking firm’s website, some are standing near Boeing’s factory base in Jet Seattle, while others are at the Finishing Center in Jhoushaan, East China. The aircraft whose papers and payments have been made earlier can get approval on the case-by-case basis.
China is the second largest aviation market
China is the second largest aviation market in the world. China is estimated to have a 20 per cent stake in global aircraft demand in the next 20 years. According to the report, last week Juniya Airlines company Boeing was delaying delivery of 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which was to be delivered in about three weeks. In 2018, Boeing supplied more than 25 per cent of the total aircraft to China, but after two aircraft crashed in 2019, China first grounded Boeing 737 Max.
In the year 2024, the quality of Boeing was questioned when a door plug of the plane was torn in the middle flight in January. China has already shown an inclination towards Airbus SE. At the same time, domestic -level COMAC C919 is also becoming an alternative to boing.
