India China Relations: China has once again extended the hand of friendship towards India. Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday (April 01, 2025) that China and India should work more closely. The relationship between the two countries should take the form of Dragon-Hathi Tango. This is a dance among our symbolic animals.
The Chinese President said this in a congratulatory message on the 75th anniversary of China-India’s diplomatic relations to President Draupadi Murmu. On this occasion, President Murmu also congratulated the Chinese President. India-China leaders on Tuesday exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations amid efforts to reduce the bitterness in relationships for more than four years due to military deadlock in eastern Ladakh.
What did Xi Jinping say?
Xi Jinping said that neighbors should find ways of co-existence peacefully and they are ready to protect peace jointly in border areas along with increasing communication and coordination in major international affairs.
In response to a question at a press conference in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said, “Today is the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and China.” He said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and President said Draupadi Murmu Apart from this, Chinese Prime Minister Lee Qing and Prime Minister Narendra Modi exchanged congratulatory messages. Guo said that the ancient civilizations of the two countries are quite similar, both are important members of the major developing countries and Global South and both are in important stages of modernization.
China ready to work with India
He said that the history of our bilateral relations shows that being partner in each other’s success is right for both sides. Guo said that under the strategic guidance of leaders of our two countries, China is ready to work with India to look and maintain bilateral relations in strategic and long-term perspective and takes the opportunity as an opportunity to increase strategic mutual confidence as well as to strengthen and strengthen the cooperation in various fields.
He was referring to how Modi and Xi had provided strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations in their meeting in Kazan, Russia during the BRICS summit last year. Asked about the plans to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations by the two countries, he said that the two countries are keen to take advantage of this opportunity to carry forward bilateral relations.
