Us green card holder rule: After Donald Trump became the US President, the rules are being changed on the day. In the latest Major Policy change, the Trump administration has made it necessary to keep their identity cards at all times, whether it is the people or workers or students.
According to the report of News18, the decision announced by the Homeland Department of Security (DHS) came after a recent court decision, in which the immigrant registration rules of the Trump era were allowed to continue the rule, under which it was necessary to register with the government for illegal immigrants in the US.
‘Documents will have to be kept with you all the time’
DHS said in a statement released on Friday, “All non-citizens of 18 years or older should keep this document with them all the time. This administration has instructed the DHS to give priority to the enforcement, those who do not follow it will not be spared. This rule is applicable since 11 April, 2025.”
The development took place at a time when Trump on January 20 signed the ‘security of American people’, in which DHS was directed to implement the Foreign Registration Act being ignored for a long time.
What is the new rule?
According to media reports, new rules affect immigrants especially illegal or without documents. All non-citizens above 14 years of age who live in the US for 30 days or more, will essentially fill the form G-325R and register with the government. Children of immigrants will also have to register again within 30 days of the age of 14 and submit fingerprints.
Apart from this, people coming to the country will also have to register within 30 days of arrival. Those who change their address will also have to report within 10 days, for not doing so, they can be fined up to $ 5,000.
What is the rule for H-1B visa and green card holder?
Meanwhile, the individuals who have entered the US on a valid visa (study, work, travel), who have green cards, employment documents, card cross-cross-border cards or I-94 admission records, will not have any effect on them, because they will be considered already registered. Indian citizens with valid visa or green card will not have to register. However, they will have to keep their identity card with all the time and show it on the demand of the authorities.
