A senior Hamas official says that if he had known that there was so much destruction in Gaza due to the October 7 attacks, then he would never agree to it. Moses Abu Marjauk, head of Hamas’s foreign relation office at Qatar, claimed this.
According to Jerusalem Post, Marjauk said in an interview to New York Times, "As far as my question is, if it was expected to happen, then it would not have been October 7."& nbsp; Although it is not clear how many more Hamas leaders of Marjauk share.
Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October 2023 and caught 251 hostages and killed about 1,200 people after which the war started. Thousands of Palestinians were killed in the Israeli attack. The United Nations says that about two-thirds of Gaza buildings were damaged or destroyed by the Israeli attacks. & Nbsp; Marjouk claims that he was not informed about the specific plans for the attack on 7 October.
Marjouk also said that Hamas’s escape in the war against Israel is a kind of victory in itself. However, it cannot be accepted that Hamas has won, especially in view of how big the Israel attacked Gaza.
According to the report, Hamas later reacted to Marjauk’s statements on his Telegram channel, saying that the New York Times took his words ‘out of reference’. The terrorist organization said that the interview was held several days ago and the published statement ‘does not reflect the entire content of their answers.’
Hamas said, "Dr. Abu Marzauk has emphasized that on October 7, the operation was the right to resist our people and the expression of rejecting siege, possession and settlements."
Palestinian organization further said, "Dr. Abu Marzauk reiterated the strong trend of the movement to maintain the right to resistance of our people in all forms, including the most important, armed resistance, until liberation and return are achieved."
