According to Bloomberg report, about 10 percent of toilet paper is imported in the US, out of which half comes from Canada.
Softwood wood deficiency will be affected
According to the report, Brian McClay, chairman of the Trusted Providers of Global Pulp Market Information, said that last year the US imported 2 million tonnes of Canadian NBSK. McClay said, “Most of the US paper mills depend on Canada’s softwood wood. The mills here have been using it for 30 years and they do not want any change in it. If more than 50 percent of the fee is charged on wood, it can have serious consequences. It will stop many mills.”
There will be a decrease in the production of toilet paper
McClay said, “We do not cut trees to make pulp in Kanada, so we depend on the remaining wooden chips emanating from the mills. This will increase the cost of toilet paper and reduce production. Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to increase the tariff, saying that his country does not need a canadian girl. Canadian products buy because they are the best.
