PM Modi Thailand Visit: Secretary (East) Jaideep Majumdar in the Ministry of External Affairs informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold an official visit to Thailand from April 3 to 4 to attend the 6th BIMSTEC summit.

According to the ANI report, Jaideep Majumdar said, “This will be Prime Minister Modi’s third Thailand visit. During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will also hold bilateral talks with Thailand’s Prime Minister Partagatarn Shinavatra. He said that there are historically strong bilateral relations between India and Thailand.”

‘Religious association between the two countries’
He further said that there are shared civilization, cultural and religious engagement between the two countries. Apart from this, Thailand is a maritime neighbor of India as well as an important partner in the “Act East” policy and Indo-Pacific Vision. Thailand is also an important partner in BIMSTEC. Prime Minister Modi will meet the Prime Minister of Thailand, Partagarn Shinavatra during this visit. This will be his second bilateral meeting. Earlier, he met him in Viantiyane during the ASEAN Summit on 11 October 2023.

India’s priority on Myanmar-Thailand earthquake
Jaideep Majumdar also reacted to the devastating earthquake in Myanmar-Thailand. He said that there is a danger of extreme weather incidents and natural disasters in the BIMSTEC region. Its relevance can be seen in the devastating earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand today. Conditions between our disaster management officers through collaboration in disaster management and HADR (Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief) exercises have been a priority area for India ‘.
