Sinclair is exploring mergers for its broadcast business

SynchlairOne of the largest broadcasting station owners in the US, starting a strategic review of its broadcasting business, resulting in merger, CNBC has learned.

The company and its advisors have already discussed deeply with potential merger partners, according to those close to the case who could not publicly speak due to the sensitive nature of the talks.

At the same time, Cinclair is also looking to spin or divide its ventures business, including the pay-TV network the tennis channel. The company has already received the board approval to find out its options.

While Cinclair has a significant discussion with potential merger partners, there is no assurance that there will be a deal or spinoff.

This step comes when the media industry expects deragulation under the Trump administration, especially in the broadcast place, which can enter a wave merge and acquisition.
