CEO of Argentina Markdolibre – Often called Heroic Latin America-US-China sees a big opportunity for Latin America in the trade war.
“If Latin America plays its card well, I think this volatility could benefit,” CEO and founder Marcos Galparain, CNBC’s Robert Frank told Robert Frank of CNBC on the edge of the Law forum of Riverwood Capital Management in Miami.

Galparain told CNBC that the Latin American firm, especially in Mexico, stand to benefit from increasing tension between us and one if its main trade partners are. He said that many American companies have already shifted their manufacturing operations from China and other Asian countries to Mexico.
Mexico has a free trade agreement with the US, which means that some imports from the country have more than 25% on Mexican goods from Tram’s tariff.
The US President has hit China the most difficult, however, with a 145% tariff rate on Chinese goods.
Galparin said that on Friday, he believes that there would be a “permanent change” in the US-China trade relations.
“I don’t know how it’s going to end, but I think the situation where everything was manufactured in China and consumed in America, and China bought T-Bill and financed in a way, I think the dynamic is finished in a way,” he said.
Argentina, Galparain’s home country, has a long history of conservationist policies including high tariffs. Argentina president Xavier MeeliThose who have described Trump as a colleague have reduced tariffs and import restrictions since their inauguration in late 2023.
“I think what Miley is doing is great for Argentina,” Gaprin said about free-market reforms.
However, he warned that there would be increasing pain.
“I hope it works,” he said. “Changes are painful, and I hope people have patience and time to see it that these changes in moderate and long term actually create benefits for all.”
