New zealand drug case: Baltej Singh, nephew of Satwant Singh, the killer of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has been convicted in a big drug case in New Zealand. The Auckland High Court on Friday (21 February 2025) sentenced Baltej Singh to 22 years in jail for keeping a synthetic drug called 700 kg metamphatamine. In 2023, Baltej Singh was raided by the Auckland police in a small warehouse, where he found several cans of beer, allegedly found to be methamphetamine.
Mastermind of Meth Import Network
The Auckland police raided the place after the death of 21 -year -old Idel Sagla. It is being told that he was killed by giving meths as beer. Himatjeet Singh was convicted in this murder case. He claimed in court that his businessman friend Baltej had cheated him. He told that Baltej was involved in the import of Meth.
Court sentenced 22 years in jail
New Zealand officials have not officially disclosed the identity of the convict, but sources have confirmed that the name of the 22 -year -old jail sentence is Baltej Singh. He was not accused in connection with Sagala’s death, but he could not get parole until he was sentenced to at least ten years.
Balatej is the son of Saravan Singh Agwan, who is the brother of Satwant Singh. Satwant Singh was one of the Sikh bodyguards who killed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on 31 October 1984 at her residence. Balatej’s family moved to New Zealand in the 1980s and opened a small grocery store in Auckland. He last came to India in December 2019, and stayed for about two and a half months.
