Rolls-Royce invests $75 million to expand South Carolina plant

British aerospace and defense company Rolls Royce Announced that it is investing $ 75 million to expand its engine manufacturing facility in Achen, South Carolina.

The investment MTU series will promote the output of the 4000 diesel engine, which is used in the backup power system for data centers and other important infrastructure.

The company stated that the expansion would create 60 new jobs, increase capabilities and strengthen the American industrial appearance of Rolls-Royce.

The step beyond its traditional aerospace focus shows changes in the energy and power systems of the rolls-rites.

Rolls-Royce said that it would machine the additional MTU series 4000 components in the US as part of the investment. The company currently produces several components in Germany and sends them to the US as a finished goods.

North America’s CEO Adam Riddle said, “We are proud to support America’s growing demand for trusted, domestic energy systems, which strengthens our country’s energy freedom and security.”

This is the second major announcement for the company in two days.

On Monday, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic announced a partnership to cooperate on small modular reactors, according to which Reuters.

Rolls-Royce can export the Czech Republic to six reactors under the SMRS deal.

The South Carolina site is now ready to become a hub in Rolls-Royce’s North American Power Systems Strategy. The first phase of expansion will begin in the first quarter of 2026, and the production will begin in July 2027.
