Portland’s WNBA expansion team on Tuesday unveiled its new branding and name – Portland Fire – The city’s previous WNBA team was re -evaluated which was played from 2000 to 2002.
According to a WNBA release, the new logo has been merged as “Rose City” in reference to the nickname of Portland in the new logo. The colors of the team are red, brown, blue and pink.
Portland Fire Interim Chairman, Claire Hamil said in a statement, “As a city that has made women’s game the champion for a long time, Portland is ready to regain its place in the WNBA and rule its connection to the game on the world stage.”
Hamil said, “We are thrilled to fulfill the journey to bring back the basketball of professional women to the city daily, respecting the legacy of the original franchise to carry forward a new, bold path.”
According to the WNBA, the new branding includes several nodes in the city and the region, including 12 bridges, which connect the city from east to west, curved roof of the team’s area’s area, moda center and silhouette of mount hood, the highest point in Oregon.
The league said the team crossed a milestone of 10,000 season ticket deposits, causing a fire to cross the previous WNBA season ticket deposit record.

Team Raj is owned by Sports, an investment firm that focuses on sports, headed by Alex Bhathal and Lisa Bhatal Maje.
The WNBA said the fire of Portland would be closed in the Moda Center in the city of Portland in 2026. The arena is also home to the Portland Trailblazer of NBA.
The team will train with the Portland Thorns FC team, which will also be held at the Dual-Play Women’s Performance Center owned by Raj Sports.
