Boeing defense workers go on strike after rejecting contract

Some 3,200 Boing The activists of the defense unit went on strike on Monday after rejecting a contract offer with the company.

Boeing offered 20% increment, $ 5,000 permission bonus and other reforms. Its latest proposal, which workers voted on Sunday, included wage hike for employees at the top of the pay scale, and the benefits of retirement were improved, according to their union, the International Association of Machiners and Aerospace Workers, local 837.

“Members of the IAM District 837 have spoken loudly and clearly, they are worth a contract that plays an important role in their skills, dedication and defense of our country,” said Business Representative of Tom Boeling, IAM District 837. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with these working families because they fight for fairness and respect the job.”

Boeing did not comment immediately.
