India Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar on Saturday (August 30, 2025) interacted with his counterpart Elina Waltonon in connection with the Ukraine War on the phone. Jaishankar said during a conversation with Elina Waltonon that India should not be targeted unfairly in the context of Ukraine War.
This comment of the Foreign Minister is being seen in the context of the United States allegations, which said that India is assisting Moscow’s war machine in Ukraine war by purchasing crude oil from Russia at a discounted price.

White House business advisor made a statement on Trump’s tariff
At the same time, Peter Navaro, a business advisor of the US White House, said this week that the 50 percent tariff imposed on Indian goods by US President Donald Trump is not only about India’s improper trade, but also aims to cut Moscow’s battle machine, the financial lifeline given by New Delhi.
However, India has already rejected these allegations being made by the US. The United States has not surprisingly criticized China, which is the biggest importer of oil from Russia.
America accused India
The United States announced a tariff of 25 percent on India for continuous purchasing of crude oil from Russia. A few days later, US President Donald Trump announced an additional 25 percent tariff on India. After which the additional tariff on India by America increased to 50 percent.
