Meanwhile, Mohammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, wrote a letter to US President Donald Trump requesting the postponement of reciperook Tariff for three months. In a letter to Trump, Younus proposed a 50 per cent reduction in tariffs on US exports to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh asked for three months time

Supported Trump’s business agenda
In a letter to Trump, Younus said, “I am writing to assure you that we will take all the necessary steps to fully support your trade agenda in Bangladesh. Soon after your swearing in, I sent my high representative to Washington DC so that we can show our intention to increase American exports in the fast growing market of 170 million people of Bangladesh.”
What Nuss said in a letter to Trump
Mohammad Yunus said that Bangladesh imposes the lowest tariff on American exports in the South Asian region. He said that we are ready to remove all tariffs on agricultural commodities like cotton, wheat, maize, soybean and scrap metals. Yunus concluded the letter, urging Trump to reconsider the reciperook tariff.
US President Donald Trump has increased the tariff rates for Bangladesh from 16 per cent to 37 per cent. This may cause a major setback to the Garment sector in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is the second largest readymade garment exporter in the world, which is completely dependent on America.
