Firefly aerospace blue ghost lunar lander capture stunning moon surface images deliver scientific data for nasa’s lunar mission

Photos drawn by Blue Ghost show the bumpy and pits filled with the moon in detail. These visual scientists can prove to be helpful in understanding lunar geology.

After launching from Spacex Falcon 9 rocket on 15 January 2025, it is revolving around the moon from 13 February. Its landing site Mare Crisium, a flat area of ​​the nearest surface of the moon has been determined.

Blue Ghost Mission is part of the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program of NASA. The purpose of this campaign is to bring 10 scientific equipment to the moon surface.

The images achieved under this mission not only reflect the technical ability of Firefly Aerospace but also give a glimpse of the part of the moon which is not visible from the earth. This will help scientists to understand the structure of the moon better.

The successful orbit of ‘Blue Ghost’ and the preparation for landing is a major achievement in the search of the moon. This mission will be operated for about 14 Earth days and will collect important data on the structure of the moon surface and the effects of solar winds.

A few hours before the landing of ‘Blue Ghost’, Spacex sent the Attena lander of intuitive machines to the moon. This was the third Lunar Mission done by Elon Musk’s company in 2025.

Apart from ‘Blue Ghost’ and Athena, the Hakuto-R2 mission of Japanese company Ispace is also moving towards the moon. This makes it clear that the competition of lunar exploration between space agencies and private companies has intensified.
