Trump’s open warning to BRICS, said ‘If the dollar weakens, 10% tax will be taxed’

US President Donald Trump claimed BRICS a ‘small group’, claiming that it wants to break the ‘dollar dominance’. He also warned that if the members of the BRICS do this, they will impose a 10 percent fee on them. Trump has threatened to impose a 10 percent fee to Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa for the second time in ten days.

Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday (July 18, 2025), ‘You have a small group called BRICS. Its brightness is becoming increasingly fading, but BRICS is trying to break the status of standard currency, standard currency status.

BRICS Group countries retaliated on America

The US President said during an event organized to sign the ‘Genius Act’, “I said that we will impose a 10 percent fee on any country in the group of BRICS countries.” The ‘Genius Act’ is the first Cryptocurrency Bill, which has been approved by the American legislature. This establishes regulatory structure for stable cryptocurrency.

A few weeks after Trump’s initial announcement of imposing retaliation on countries around the world, during the two -day summit at Rio de Janeiro earlier this month, the BRICS group countries indirectly attacked the US and expressed serious concern over an increase in import duty in a unilateral manner.

Global trade is a big threat

The BRIC manifesto released on July 6 said that the fee increase is not in line with the rules of the World Trade Organization and this will threaten global trade. On July 8, Trump claimed that the BRICS has been established to damage the US and weaken the dollar. He warned that the member countries of this group would have to face 10 percent fee.

Trump on Friday reiterated his concern about the dollar, claiming, ‘The next day BRICS countries met and almost no one came. They did not want a fee, this is amazing. No, we will not allow the dollar to weaken. If we have a wise President, then you will never let the dollar become weak.

Weak like losing world war

Trump stressed the dollar position as the world’s reserved currency for the coming generations and said that reserved currency is very important. If we lose it then it will be like losing the World War. We cannot allow anyone to play with us, so when I heard about this group of six countries of BRICS, I attacked them very strongly.

The US President said, ‘Even if they have ever been made, even if they have ever been made in a meaningful way, it will end very quickly. I don’t think they will do this, they are scared of me in a way.
